| WHY?
As a UCME Intern, you will have a great opportunity to learn extensively about local marine ecology in a hands-on environment while applying the knowledge and skills gained from your past educational experiences. Your research will be assisted by our teams of volunteers while you receive guidance and mentoring from our scientific staff. The data you collect and present will be used to benefit the local community and the sustainability of their marine ecosystems.
HOW?
The first step in becoming an intern is to contact UCME with a copy of your CV and tell us what areas of research you are interested in. If you are accepted, UCME staff will be in direct contact with you to make the arrangements for your stay and your itinerary. Once you arrive, you will be given an orientation around the organization and community so that you are ready to start your project. Depending on the research you will be conducting, volunteer research assistants may be available to help you in your data collection. UCME’s professional staff will be available to help you along the way and add insight to your study by providing additional complimentary data from other findings collected by the organization and their own personal experiences. Upon project completion you will be asked to produce a scholarly report that will be added to our database.
