Steve Canty (MSc Environmental Science and Sustainability Studies)(FORCE Project Researcher) Steve C has extensive field experience in coral reef and mangrove ecosystems and his current work focuses on the coastal fisheries within these systems. Working as a researcher on the FORCE project, a large part of his research is evaluating the sustainability of the Yellowtail Snapper (Ocyurus chrysurus) fishery in Honduras and helping to develop tools to manage this species across the region. Steve C is also investigating the susceptibility of parrotfish to different fishing techniques, using field studies in Honduras and comparing these to other studies across the Caribbean. In addition he is leading a pilot project on the Pacific coast to develop ways of mitigating the impacts of artisanal shrimp farming on mangroves, whilst enhancing profits for local producers. |
